The demand for apartments is on the rise in Kent, according to a housebuilder in the county.
Vistry Group, which builds under the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands, has seen a shift in the market as more buyers opt for single-storey living.
Millie Groves, marketing manager for Vistry Kent, said: “Interest in apartments across the region has risen significantly as more people realise the advantages of one-storey living.
“Apartments have always been popular with buyers looking to take their first step onto the property ladder, because they are suitable for those with smaller budgets. However, we’re also seeing increased interest from young couples and downsizers as well.
“This type of property is ideal for those who are always on the go as the smaller space requires less cleaning and maintenance than a larger house. Because of their size, apartments also tend to be more energy efficient and therefore cost less to heat – something which has become an increasingly important consideration for buyers following the recent surges in fuel prices.”
According to Rightmove’s July House Price Index report, house prices in the South East of England have risen 9.3 per cent in the past year.
Millie added: “The growing demand for single-storey living means that purchasing an apartment is also a great opportunity for investors, especially as house prices continue to rise across the region.”
Vistry Kent is building apartments at multiple locations in Kent including its Watermans Park development in Gravesend which is being built under the Bovis Homes brand.
Vistry is also set to release a new phase of apartments at its Westwood Point development in Thanet which is being built under the Linden Homes brand.
