Darwin Group completes new build for Halliford School in Shepperton

Modular construction specialist Darwin Group handed over the keys to a brand-new Learning Resource Centre at Halliford School in Shepperton last week (Wednesday 10th November).

The official opening saw the doors open to a 805 sq. m build for the selective independent school. Completed in just 21 weeks, Darwin Group used its unique turnkey service, which covers all stages of design, planning and construction from start to finish.

Darwin Group has a highly skilled in-house team of designers, architects, town planners and construction professionals. This enabled them to work closely with Halliford School and their architect to design a modern and unique three-storey build for the students to occupy.

The eye-catching exterior of the new build was designed with numerous windows on each storey, creating a well-lit and spacious learning environment for the students and staff.

Darwin Group used modern methods of construction for the build, utilising its highly controlled environment at the Shrewsbury-based factory. This allowed for quality control checks of the modules and meant that waste was minimised during installation.

Jim Pierce, Group Director of Darwin Group, said: “Our team strives to deliver best-in-class educational buildings, with 30 years’ experience working on projects in the sector. We are proud of our work at Halliford School, where we have delivered a complex design to the highest standard in just 21 weeks using cost-effective off-site techniques.”

James Davies, Headmaster at Halliford School, said: “As a school we constantly strive to provide our students with the very best facilities and so when we set about designing and commissioning the Woodward Building to mark the School’s Centenary, we invited a number of firms to tender. Darwin Group were by far the most impressive in terms of their approach and attention to detail and it has been a pleasure to work alongside them during the construction process. We are particularly pleased that the modular design has dramatically reduced disruption on site and to our local residents and the fact that we have produced an entirely solar-powered building is testament to our commitment to sustainability.”
