A total refurbishment of the fitness studio at Culm Valley Sports Centre in Cullompton has been completed in time for the New Year.
Costing £200,000, the centre’s fitness studio has been kitted out with new Health and Fitness branding and the latest state-of-the-art equipment provided in association with Mid Devon Leisure’s long-term strategic partner and equipment provider, Matrix.
These latest upgrades follow the highly successful launch of the same equipment at Mid Devon Leisure’s other sites at Lords Meadow in Crediton and Exe Valley in Tiverton.
The new-look studio feels fresh and consistent with the expectations of today’s gym goers and includes aerobic machines with top of the range interactive screens and more functional resistance space.
The new equipment is designed for all abilities and will assist both Mid Devon Leisure’s successful G.P referral and cancer rehabilitation schemes, whilst also serving seasoned gym goers and those training for sporting events.
A variety of equipment has been provided, including new machines to try out such as the Matrix climbmills; as well as new familiar items including treadmills and bikes. Of noteworthy mention, is the installation of a Boditrax machine. This machine provides a customer friendly, precision body composition tool and is the only item of equipment specified as medical equipment used within the industry. By measuring key criteria, such as resting metabolic rate, it can help people identify the most effective pathway to improved fitness levels.
Cabinet Member for Community Well-being Councillor Dennis Knowles said:
“Following the successful improvements at Exe Valley Leisure Centre in Tiverton in 2018 and Lords Meadow Leisure Centre in Crediton in 2019, I’m delighted that we’re now able to offer these changes to Culm Valley Sports Centre, thereby investing in Cullompton.
“I believe that the new Matrix equipment will give our leisure customers the opportunity to take advantage of the best kit, in an improved environment. A real incentive to enjoy a ‘New Year, and a new you’ as we go into 2020.”
