Time is running out to have your say on the future vision for Barnstaple
Barnstaple Pannier Market

Local residents are being reminded to have their say in a public consultation on plans for a future vision of Barnstaple.

With days to go until their public consultation closes, North Devon Council is calling on its residents to share their ideas on the how they’d like to see Barnstaple’s town centre shaped.

The council’s bid for investment for Barnstaple from the government’s Future High Streets Fund was shortlisted in September last year. Development money was awarded to the council by central government to prepare a detailed business case for the regeneration of the high street.  It is hoped that this will secure a share of the Government’s £1 billion fund, which aims to renew and reshape town centres and high streets in a way that drives economic growth and improves living standards.

Before submitting its business case, the council’s regeneration team wants to hear from as many residents as possible, either through its online consultation or dedicated email address, by 31 January.

Barnstaple Town Centre Manager, Hannah Harrington says:

“We have a strong vision for how we would like Barnstaple’s town centre to change and are working on some very exciting ideas. However, we would really like to hear from residents about what matters most to them and the easiest way to do this is to take part in the online consultation. We have already had a good response, but we are keen to get as many thoughts and ideas from North Devon residents as possible.”

Residents can give their views by completing the online consultation www.northdevon.gov.uk/Barnstaple-consultation or emailing highstreet@northdevon.gov.uk by 31 January.
