Housing development in Leigh reaches first key milestone

Housing development in Leigh reaches first key milestone

A brand-new development of private rental family homes in Leigh is progressing well as the first 10 houses are completed.

The £11.3 million development, located on the former Hilton Park site, off Chadwick Street, will see energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE construct 103 one bedroom self-contained apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes for private rent on behalf of Sigma Capital Group plc for their Simple Life private rental brand www.simplelifehomes.co.uk.

Steve Gregory, Head of New Build at ENGIE, said: “It’s been a challenging few months for the construction industry as a whole, but we’re pleased that shortly after re-commencing our operations, we’ve successfully delivered the first 10 properties of the development. Our dedicated delivery team is continuing to progress the works at pace and are already gearing up for the next 10 being released to Sigma in August 2020.

“It’s great to see this milestone being reached, but there’s lots more to do as we continue to support the regeneration of the local area and meet the growing housing needs of Leigh and the wider community.”

Jason Berry, Regional MD at Sigma Capital added: “We’re really excited to be working with Engie on such a brilliant housing scheme. We’ve received a phenomenal amount of demand for the new homes at Hilton Park already with the majority of released units already pre-let off plan. We’re also really pleased to be supporting the wider local community this year, including a number of donations to the local Atherton and Leigh foodbank, as well as supporting a local primary, St Richards Roman Catholic Primary School in Atherton with £8,000 to fund new outdoor fitness equipment for the school including a ski machine, exercise bikes and rotator machines.”

The Hilton Park project is expected to complete in March 2021 and is split into another further nine phases, which will be handed over in line with the programme.

Benefiting from the centres of Leigh and Wigan nearby with their wide range of amenities, Hilton Park is itself within close proximity to a number of leisure and retail facilities, great motorway and rail connections and easy access Manchester city centre.
