Clegg completes high quality facility for Care UK

CONSTRUCTION specialist Clegg Construction has finished a new, high specification care facility in Leicestershire for residential home leaders Care UK.

The £6million Lonsdale Mews scheme, located in Quorn near Loughborough, is a 64-bed purpose-built care home. Constructed to the highest standard, each room features an en-suite and a section of the building has been future proofed to accommodate specialist dementia care.

The care home also comprises a wide variety of facilities including a choice of themed living rooms and dining rooms, a hairdresser, cinema, library, activity rooms, and more. The external landscaping was also carefully planned out and offers a selection of seating areas and a gazebo that can be used for visitor events.

Dave Swift, contracts manager at Clegg Construction, said:

“We’ve really enjoyed working closely with Care UK to build the best possible home for its future residents, so we’re therefore delighted to have handed over the project.

“The building combines the familiarity of domestic architecture with the benefits of a contemporary care home.  From the landscaped gardens to the carefully thought out internal living spaces, the utmost care has been taken to ensure a welcoming, high standard of design, construction, and finish.

“The home was built traditionally from load-bearing brickwork and masonry to the latest thermal and fire protection standards. The building also features combined heat and power mechanical plant, which addresses environmental sustainability with some of the latest technology. It’s a project we’re very proud to be part of.”

Care UK provides health and social care for older people and those with learning disabilities or mental health problems. The company currently operates more than 120 care homes across the UK.

Claire Ellam, head of care home development for Care UK, said:

“We are really proud of the environment that has been created at our new care home. This is the latest addition to a growing portfolio of residential care homes and reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care in Quorn. Every last detail here has been considered to create a high-quality, luxury care home which enables residents to live safe, active and fulfilled lives.”

The design for the care home was delivered KWL Architects and the project team included Aecom as project manager and Jackson Purdue Lever as the structural engineers.
