Bellway is making a major investment in Gloucestershire by building 650 new homes and providing more than £6.7 million in funding for local projects and infrastructure improvements.
The housebuilder is delivering 465 homes at Pirton Fields off Cheltenham Road East in Churchdown, including 238 under its Ashberry Homes brand, alongside an investment of more than £6.1 million in local services.
Millbrook Grove, a development of 135 homes in Brockworth, and a 50-scheme in Hempsted called Sandalwood Green are also currently under construction.
Of the 650 homes across the three developments, 219 are being provided as affordable housing for local people through shared ownership or low-cost rent.
Under the planning agreements for the developments, Bellway is contributing £267,262 for Sandalwood Green and £350,234 for Millbrook Grove in addition to the £6.1 million being provided as part of the plans for Pirton Fields.
Billie Oaten, Sales Director for Bellway Wales, said: “The number of homes we are currently building in Gloucestershire and the scale of the financial contributions associated with these developments demonstrate our commitment to investing in Gloucestershire.
“Funding for education makes up a significant proportion of this money, with £2.57 million being provided towards the construction of improved primary school facilities in Churchdown, as well as £1.58 million towards additional facilities for secondary education at Chosen Hill School.
“A further £257,462 is being provided for local education as part of the planning agreement for Sandalwood Green, and £324,364 under the plans for Millbrook Grove. Other contributions we are making include a sum of £9,800 for library services in Hempsted and the surrounding area. Additionally, the schemes all provide high quality public open space and opportunities for children’s play on site, and can demonstrate a number of ecological enhancements.
“We have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes in Gloucestershire, and these latest developments in the county follow the completion of our Picklenash Grove and Lassington Reach sites in Newent and Highnam respectively. Between them, these two developments delivered 168 new homes and funding of £653,510 for local services and infrastructure.
“With construction work at Millbrook Grove nearing the halfway stage and the first residents moving in at Sandalwood Green, we are continuing to meet the demand for housing in Gloucestershire while delivering the investment needed to positively impact the communities in which we build.”
